monDAY January 22nd, 2001was a
very active day for highSCHOOL hockeY as both the Beverly Panthers and
Danvers Falcons had home games as they anticipate their rematch on the
31st of January.
Here is a full recap of the highSCHOOL hockeY action
from bigMONDAY (1/22/01)
High School Hockey
North Andover 3, Danvers 7
Rockett Arena; Salem State College; Salem, Massachusetts
Game Recap :
Danvers dominated the early part of this game. Both teams put in their
backup goalies when Danvers scored their fifth goal in the mid second period.
North Andover was the first to capitalize on the "fresh meat" but Danvers
followed up with two more goals to add to the woes of the North Andover
team. The game was comfortably physical for a non-confrence game. North
Andover capped the scoring with a 5 on 3 power play goal. Other than that,
it was all Falcons.
NorthEastern Confrence High School Hockey
Salem Witches 1, Swampscott Big Blue 9
Rockett Arena; Salem State College; Salem, Massachusetts
Goalies :
Lassiter (Salem) - 9 goals allowed, loss
Hogan (Swampscott) - 1 goal allowed, win
Game Recap :
The game's first big scoring opportunity was given to Swampscott on
a penalty shot which was stopped by Salem's goalie, Dan Lassiter. That
would be his best moment of the game because he would allowed 9 goals in
this blowout victory. John Hogan, Swampscott's backup goalie came up with
some well needed saves as the Blue toppled the Witches in a 45 minute "Murder
on Ice"
NorthEastern Confrence High School Hockey
Lynn English Bulldogs 1, Beverly Panthers 2
Rockett Arena; Salem State College; Salem, Massachusetts
Goalies :
Greely (English) - 20 saves, 2 goals allowed, loss
Tobin (Beverly) - 20 saves, 1 goal allowed, win
topSCORER :
erikREAD (Beverly) - 1goal, 1point, gameWINNER
gameRECAP:
This was by far the best game of bigMONDAY! Anytime a game comes down
to a final shot, it's gonna be good. The Bulldogs came out with the first
scoring which was unanswered until the third due to poor referees and great
goaltending by Greely. The Panthers made their mark on the board with goals
by Gentile and Read to lead the Panthers to thier fourth win. Beverly is
now unbeaten in their last two games.
